I will try to keep the site up to date with the goings on and thougts about this project. I am totally aware that nobody cares but I want to keep track of things for me. lol

  We got the plants…well seeds anyway lol

• Electronics Layout Thoughts

  Some basic notes on the electronics and how they need to be laid out.

  Not a ton of updates this week

• Update

  Quite a weekend! This will be quick and then I will edit it later.

  • Added the beginnings of a bio filter
  • Upgraded the filter with a deeper initial catch. This should make the system more efficient.
  • Upgraded the in tank fish -> Filter piping with a longer extension (to cover more of the bottom) that has holes drilled in it
  • Added 15 (minus one floater) fish (this may have been premature as the water still gets too warm. I think because of the filter tank.)
    • Cooled the system with ice and with ice packs. Wasn’t really enough.
  • Tightened some things up to minimize leaks

• Update

  Made a little progress this weekend including creating a basic bio filter.

• Back to life...

  First of all… I may go back and spell check that last post. Wow…I may have been drinking that evening. [Done] To catch you up though… I got divorced (not since the last update but close), bought a house, got a promotion, got in a car accident and replaced my car, took up kayaking …its been a very busy time. However…this weekend I:

  • Got the parts out of storage (i.e. sitting in the backyard against the shed)
  • Hosed them down and got them physically back in place
  • Re-plumbed the lines from the sump to the tubes
  • Got the flow set so that the flush works
  • Built a holding box around the fish tank
  • Plumbed the return to the fish-tank
  • Plumbed the skimmer to the filter

  Where have I been all this time?

• Stick Two

  Cut the second stick of planting tube today.

• Thoughts and Ideas

  This is a place to stash other ideas for the build or the system in general or even just for how to populate this website / blog.

• Tanks

  Finally got the tanks for the system. It remains to be seen how they are going to work out but I am hopeful.

• Net Cups

  Not a whole lot done on this day but I did get the net-pots built. I suppose in a future iteration I may cut the pipe holes larger to sink the cups lower down but whether or not thats necessary is something to find out later on.

• Lets start building

  This first day of building I got the A-Frame built and one tube set up from end to end. Other entries will cover other parts of the build.

• First Post

  This is the first post of my notes. My plan is to keep a running memory of what I have done, want to do, should have done, how it’s working, etc… on this initial Aquaponics system.
